1. Scope
These Terms & Conditions ("T&Cs") apply to membership in, and participation in the programs of, the National Speakers Association — Southern California Chapter ("NSA SoCal"). By joining or participating, you agree to these T&Cs in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
2. Membership terms
Membership is granted to individuals who meet the chapter's eligibility criteria and complete enrollment. Membership is personal, non-transferable, and valid for the membership period stated at enrollment. Membership does not confer ownership, voting rights beyond those provided in chapter governance, or any equity interest in NSA SoCal.
3. Dues & renewal
Membership requires payment of dues at the rate published at the time of enrollment or renewal. Dues are processed through Stripe. Where membership is set to renew automatically, your payment method will be charged at the then-current rate until you cancel. Failure to pay dues when due may result in loss of member benefits and access to member-only resources. Dues are [REFUND TERMS — confirm].
4. Member benefits & eligibility
Active members in good standing receive access to benefits such as member pricing on events, the member resource area, community programming, and chapter communications. Specific benefits are described on the Site and may be added, modified, or discontinued. Member-only pricing and content are reserved for active members; sharing access or member-only materials with non-members is prohibited.
5. Code of conduct
NSA SoCal is committed to a respectful, professional, and inclusive community. As a member or participant, you agree to:
- Treat fellow members, guests, speakers, volunteers, and staff with courtesy and respect;
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior at any chapter activity, online or in person;
- Respect the confidentiality of member information and member-only materials;
- Use chapter resources, directories, and contact information only for purposes permitted by the chapter; and
- Represent your professional background and affiliations honestly.
Violations may result in warning, suspension, or removal as described in Section 9.
6. Program & event participation
Participation in chapter events and programs is subject to the registration terms, capacity limits, schedules, and pricing presented for each program. You are responsible for your own travel, equipment, and arrangements unless stated otherwise. Refund and cancellation terms for each program are as posted at registration; see our Terms of Service, Section 7.
7. Speakers Academy & multi-session programs
Programs that run over multiple sessions or months (such as the Speakers Academy) may have their own enrollment terms, attendance expectations, payment schedules, and cohort policies. By enrolling, you agree to those program-specific terms. Where a program includes chapter membership for its duration, that membership is governed by these T&Cs. Missed sessions are generally not refundable or transferable unless the program terms state otherwise.
8. Member directory & communications
If you appear in a member directory or speaker listing, you consent to the display of the information you provide for that purpose. You may request changes or removal by contacting us. By being a member, you agree to receive chapter and account communications; you may opt out of non-essential marketing emails at any time.
9. Suspension & removal
NSA SoCal may suspend or terminate membership or program participation for non-payment, violation of these T&Cs, the Code of Conduct, or our Terms of Service, or for conduct we reasonably determine to be harmful to the chapter or its members. Where practicable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue, except where immediate action is warranted. Dues or fees are generally not refunded upon removal for cause.
10. Affiliation with the National Association
NSA SoCal is an affiliated chapter of the National Speakers Association. Chapter membership is separate from National Association membership, and each may have its own requirements, dues, benefits, and policies. Use of NSA names and marks is subject to the chapter's affiliation. Nothing in these T&Cs creates an obligation of the National Association.
11. Liability & release
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you participate in chapter activities at your own risk. NSA SoCal and its officers, directors, board members, volunteers, and agents are not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from participation, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct. The disclaimers and limitation of liability in our Terms of Service (Sections 13–14) also apply to these T&Cs.
12. General provisions
These T&Cs are governed by the laws of the State of California. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. We may update these T&Cs from time to time; the "Last updated" date reflects the latest version, and continued membership or participation constitutes acceptance.
